NYHOI about the world of Cameras

They control what you do, what you say, the way you look, the way you drive, the way you view some people you have never meet and even the way you feel... Cameras. They are everywhere from Surveillance Cameras to phone cameras and at any time they can be used in the best or worst ways. Many people are famous because the cameras are constantly on them watching every move they make so their audiences will be contentiously updated on celebrities lives. Cameras also control the way we look back on our lives to see what we were like years ago. But recently the biggest issues with cameras hitting the news is the Egyptian revolution. Sure twitter, facebook and bloggers all contributed a great amount to this revolution, but with our generation, word can only go so far. We are a generation of "seeing is believing" and without camera footage and pictures of the determined protesters, police and beaten men, the audience on the other side of the world has less interest. So what do the protesters do for the other side of the world that is watching from the web or TV? They create huge commotions in front of the camera to get more viewers to hear what they have to say. While more and more people are fighting to be seen around the world for what they believe in, more and more people are being put in danger. News reporters being beaten, government buildings set on fire, cameras being smashed, all because of the presents of cameras surrounding people with strong beliefs.
So how does this connect to anything? Well if you look into it cameras connect to almost everything. Our world today is being to be run by the camera and in few years time it will be so widespread no one will have a voice who doesn't have a camera. So here is my NYHOI, if we are going to use cameras, which are not inherently good or bad, we need to focus on how we can contribute to helping the world because we are all so connected. We can see what is going on around the world (even though it is through a small square) and we are able to relate to others easier. So what we need to do is first, understand how to use the technology that comes with having a camera. Second, get involved with projects that help with connecting with other people around the world. And third once you are connected help change the world. All you need is motivation and a camera.
